Field-cum-Woodland: rethinking the unremarkable in remarkable ways

Book your spot now!

Fri 6 June

11am–2.30pm

Marton Wood, Marton cum Grafton

Focus: Exploring boredom as a tool to disrupt embedded narratives about the woodland, its inhabitants, and human relationships. Through listening, noticing, creative experiments, and sensory exploration, participants will attempt to engage with the landscape in new ways.

Workshop objective:  This workshop invites participants to embrace boredom as a generative state—one that fosters an openness to the woodland. Through walking, listening, drawing, and noticing, they will challenge habitual ways of perceiving the woodland and reconsider their place within it. By incorporating stillness and repetitive exercises, the session encourages comfort with doing very little—a kind of "not doing" that informs "doing." This approach will foster creative possibilities and cultivate deeper ecological awareness of the woodland.

Cost & booking: £15 on it’s own or £7.50 if also attending ‘An Unremarkable Wood’ Symposium. Laura will continue to explore these themes at the symposium. Please email info@chrysalisarts.com to book.

Lunch: Please bring a lunch or you can buy lunch from the hall.
